SUMMARY:Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance - New Springfield Fire Department
DESCRIPTION:Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance® (TJQMBB) is a research-based balance training regimen designed for older adults at risk of falling and people with balance disorders. Fuzhong Li\, Ph.D.\, a Senior Scientist at Oregon Research Institute\, developed the program. \nAlthough its origin can be traced to the contemporary simplified 24-form Tai Ji Quan routine\, TJQMBB represents a significant paradigm shift in the application of Tai Ji Quan\, moving the focus from its historical use as a martial art or recreational activity to propagating health by addressing common\, but potentially debilitating\, functional impairments/deficits. \nThis unique training approach is the culmination of a systematic series of scientific studies to improve efficacy\, utility\, and community and clinical relevance. \nThis Free course will be held Tuesday and Thursdays starting August 13 at 10am.

SUMMARY:Matter of Balance: Amedia Plaza Youngstown
DESCRIPTION:A Matter of Balance (MOB) is specifically designed to reduce the fear of falling and improve activity levels among community-dwelling older adults. The program includes eight two-hour classes presented to a small group of 8-12 participants led by trained coaches. SUMMARY:Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance: YMCA Central
\nThis FREE course is open to the public (you do not need to be a member of the YMCA to attend) and will run Mondays and Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 from 2/19/24 thru 8/7/24.
